I need your views of what you think works as good research topic and question.
1. What effect does economic social class in America have on the amount of people going to college?
2. Have the large salaries of professional athletes had a negative impact on the athletes, the sports, and on America?
3. Why does the media disregard killings in the poorer, urban communities as not "newsworthy"?
Bonus: How have stereotypes affected the way people view each other from differeant parts of the country?

Definitely do the one on youth killings, its a hot topic that has been in the news and addressed publicly. I think it's something you should definitely be able to find information on and write a solid and interesting paper.
I REALLY like your third topic. It is very close to home for us because of the recent vilence issues in Chicago. This is a topic that is very persistant through our history and very seldom adressed.
I agree with sara you should do topic three. This is a issue that isn't addressed often and seems to only be getting worse.
I think all three topics are interesting. I wonder whether it's true to the media "disregard killings in the poorer, urban communities"? Sometimes, I think that the news coverage of violence in Englewood or Austin reinforces the claim that that's all that's going on there. What about gentrification? What about the collapse of public housing to make way for million-dollar townhomes? What's happening in the schools, the churches, the sites of resistance to Black-on-Black violence? Don't these deserve as much coverage as crime and violence?
How would you respond to such a naysayer? ;-)
